道草日記は、小休止し、想像、創造、そして熟考の世界へと誘う音の旅です。これは目的地へ向かう途中に馬が草を食べて時間を浪費した「道草をくう」から発想を得ています。道の草をたべるとき、目的や時間は忘れさられています。青々としたおいしい草は、楽しみを与え、幼少期の精神の豊かさを呼び起こします。 道草日記は、人々の音に対する無頓着さを考え直すとともに、想像上と実際の音の現象を行き来することで、環境への新たなつながりを生み出します。 中之条町を歩いて鑑賞します。スマートフォンとヘッドフォンをご持参下さい。

Grass Eater Diary (2019) is a sonic journey into the state of pure pausing, imagination, creation and contemplation. Via a downloadable App one can discover the surroundings of Nakanojo while listening to sound compositions on site.  By the use of everyday digital technology one can enjoy a playful acoustic walk between virtual and actual reality.  Michikusa wo kuu –  or eating the roadside grass, happy walking! 

Grass Eater Diary is inspired by the Japanese idiom ‘Michikusa Wo Kuu’ which origin is: a horse eats grass on the way to a destination and wasting its time. The Grass Eater forgets about purpose, time and goals. The green, juicy grass is full enjoyment, a luxury state in a childhood-spirit. Grass Eater Diary lets us make fresh connections to our surroundings by questioning our ignorant attitude towards acoustics, by playing between virtual and actual sonic phenomena.

App Background: GrassEaterDiary is an interactive interface to geo–localise audio. It means all compositions are created for a particular geographic location. The app is developed by musician/programmer Urban Lienert. Prior to this work Hojo+Kraft have developed the audiowalk INNERN in 2018.
